Original Vietnam War KIA KILLED IN ACTION Western Union Telegram Document Group. This a grouping from a Vietnam War soldier from Minnesota who was killed in action in May 1971. The grouping was from Ronald Joe Larson, he was a Spec. 5 who was killed in action while serving in Vietnam. He was a heavy equipment operator. 1967 USS Forrestal Cruise Book CVA-59 Famous US Navy Ship Fire during Vietnam War. This United States Navy Yearbook was from the infamous USS Forrestal that caught fire and more than 130 soldiers died as a result of the accident. This ship was also the boat that John McCain was stationed on before he was caught and held as a Prisoner of War (POW) for more than five years. There are many group photos of sailors, pilots, crew members, and marines and I'm not sure if John McCain is actually in this book. It notes in the book that many of the photos that were going to be used in the Cruise Book were lost during the fire. Please review the man sample photos from this yearbook. The book has great photos and is all this unitâ??s people and experiences, not like the generic unit books printed for basic training or boot camp. Blue tape was put on the spine to hold everything in place - you can see it in the photos.
I did not check every page and didn't notice any handwritten notes or autographs. These particular USS Forresteral yearbooks aren't very commonly found.

Off the line the crew enjoyed time in Hawaii, the Philippines, Japan, and Hong Kong. Not all sailors had the pleasure of relaxing. Maintainers were required to devote a great deal of time in port preparing for the next line period and the men who maintained the boilers and the engines and the other gear that drives the ship had the least time to relax of all. When they did get ashore, they made the most of it as may be seen by the photos in the book.The book is in good condition with a firm binding, some staining to the cover.
