RARE Original Vietnam War 14k Gold WAR Necklace Green Beret Special Forces Army
CollectionHero
I believe this to be a very rare necklace pendant, as I can't find another exactly like it anywhere online. I find reproductions, but this is the real deal. The pendant weighs 7.37g. My guess is that very few of these survive outside of family collections.

W@w! USAF Vietnam War POW Hanoi Hilton Pajama Shirts K-2B Flight Suit #1 POW U-2
CollectionHero
Original 1963 USAF Issue Covington Industries, Inc.Vietnam War USAF Veteran F-4C Phantom IIAnd One of the 6 Original U-2 Pilots in January 1956 USAF POW ID'd K-2B Flight Suit In Size Small-Regular (34 to 36 regular)with Extremely Rare In Any Condition, Hanoi Hilton Pajama Shirt & Undershirt (1967 1972)Somehow I Forgot the Pictures of the Undershirt (That is the darker striped shirt with no markings on it....) Belonged to #1 Ranking POW OfficerIn Size Small Regular (34 to 36 Regular) Extremely Rare... Don't Miss This Group...!!! This impossibly rare group needs to find a museum or serious collector of rare Vietnam War memorabilia. Col. Stockman was one of the top three POW officers, actually the #1 by date of rank and was considered the POW commander. His POW ID number is on the button down out shirt and looks to be TU 4-487. He survived captivity at the hands of the North Vietnamese from June 1967 when the aircraft (F-4C Phantom II) he was flying came under fire and in the melee of a MiGCAP (Combat Air Patrol for interdicting NVAF MiG interceptors which were looking to shoot down bomb carrying fighter bombers) collided somehow with another F-4 in his unit and both went down down over North Vietnam, near a major MiG base called Kep northeast of Hanoi. He was captured, imprisoned and tortured - held as a prisoner in every major POW prison compound in the Hanoi area - Heartbreak, Las Vegas, Plantation, and Hoa Lo aka Hanoi Hilton, later known as Unity, until the surviving POWs were released in January 1973 after years of convoluted negotiations. He was also responsible for the idea and creation of the 4th Allied P.O.W. Wing emblem insignia Notably this exemplary USAF officer was also the first U-2 pilot to fly over the Soviet Union in 1956 on July 4th over Leningrad, nearby bomber bases, and I think at least one naval base - four years before Francis Gary Powers was shot down doing a similar reconnaissance flight over Soviet missile testing sites in central Asia. The U-2s flew with impunity over the Soviet Union from 1956 until the Gary Powers shoot down by a SAM. It always enraged Nikita Khrushchev that his military could put a satellite in space, but could not shoot down a U-2 flying slowly over his sensitive military sites.Col. Stockman flew P-51s in WWII and shot down two German aircraft in the course of 58 missions he flew in the ETO. He went inactive after the war so he could finish college at Princeton. After he was recalled for the Korean War he flew F-84Fs for SAC (yes, boys and girls for a short period SAC had its own fighter squadrons, notably at Bergstrom AFB in Texas - look it up (not on your phone - try reading a book!) before he was tapped to be one of the original six pilots for the U-2 program in January 1956. He flew the U-2 until around 1958 or so. When he came back from Europe he flew F-102s, followed by F-104s and then transitioned to F-4s in which he flew during his 310 missions in Vietnam before he was downed. At first he was squadron commander of the 390th squadron of the famous 366th TFW (Tactical Fighter Wing), but by June of 1967 he was commander of the 366th, then based at Da Nang AB, South Vietnam. After returning home to the United States in 1973, and spending several months recovering from the physically punishing and mentally exhausting effects of his 6 year captivity with the brutal North Vietnamese, he resumed his duty in the Air Force. He finished up his Air Force career at Kirtland AFB and retired in 1978. The zippers on the flight suit all work fine and the leather pull tab is perfectly intact. All pockets have painted or Parkerized gray metal zippers by Crown (USA) and there are Rau sage green snap button adjusters at the waist and sleeve cuffs with Crown zippers at the pant leg cuffs. The military grade painted or Parkerized gray brass main double zipper (top) is also made by Crown (photo 8) and the bottom zipper is a rare Coats & Clark zipper. The material of the flight suit itself is a 100% cotton in a light twill weave. The Red, White and Blue scarf comes from a clothing store in Ubon, Thailand called Rajawongse Clothiers (since 1961 and still in business today). This flight suit and scarf were in his gear that was sent back to the States after his F-4 was lost over North Vietnam and he was captured. There is a photo of him wearing this flight suit with the scarf circulating on the Internet. I will try to find and post a copy. Note: The Hanoi Hilton POW PJ shirt, undershirt (or hospital shirt?), and USAF flight suit with Red, White and Blue scarf are being sold as-is. There are no major issues with this flight suit that I could find. One small hole on the left sleeve (last photo). It appears to be Fine display condition..... Obviously washed because of the general appearance of the exterior and the label yet well cared for - it has beer can type full colonel eagles encased in clear plastic which was the norm from the late 50s through the Vietnam War period of the Cold War. sewn on each shoulder and a leather name plate in plastic on the left chest area above the slant zipper . A Tactical Air Command patch is located on the right.... This flight suit was definitely "flown" in combat and has the original manufacturer's very rare 1960s black label (photos 2 & 3) clearly shows it has only been well cared for then and all these years later! This flight suit is a July 1963 issue K-2B lightweight flight suit in USAF sage green, was made in the USA and is absolutely original to the period of late 1963 through 1967. The POW PJ shirt and undershirt were the last he was issued by his North Vietnamese captors at the Hanoi Hilton before he was repatriated to US authorities in February 1973. All the items are 100% genuine as described and belong to the period from 1963 to 1972.
